Week In Update and Feelings

PICZ COMING SOON
._.

So the it seems like there is quite a bit going on this week, and my industry feelings are all over the place.
I'm happy with something, unhappy with others.

Let's just start with the bad.

Apple today announced the iPhone 5 (after much secretive attitude and negativity towards image leaks), and what does it look like? An iPhone 4. Wow Apple, you really shocked me there! That design is so unique and I've never seen it before!! *complete sarcasm*

On the other hand, the iPod Touch and iPod Nano Touch look pretty cool and it's good to see that MP3 devices still have a market; albeit Apple owns that market.

Other bad news; Nintendo announces the Wii U price point and release date tomorrow at a press conference. Nintendo has fallen far from grace and the unimpressive, chunky, tablet-controlled, piece of hardware that Nintendo plans on releasing is not mending those wings.

Nintendo has made major marketing mistakes in the recent year and I would just like to touch on a couple of them.

1. Showing off games like Batman: Arkham City and Ninja Gaiden 3. One of those is a good game, but you're showing off games for a "next-gen" console that are already out? One of them came out last year!! Demonstrating games that are already on the market, in consumers hands, is not a good way of showing what your "next-gen" console is capable of.

2. The tablet controller. Tablets  have flooded the market and are a huge craze. I have owned three different ones myself and have found them still lackluster. Adding a tablet controller to a console is just plain not a good idea. Nintendo should have learned from Microsoft with the original Xbox and its controller, that a big controller is not a good idea. Also, it just doesn't look intuitive or original. Even the original Wii with its motion controllers looked more original than that!

So that's just some of the things that bother me about the Wii U. That is not all but I would rather not explain all of it.

The good news is that Guild Wars 2 has been receiving awesome critical praise. It makes me wish I had more time to invest in the game. I can't stress enough how good it is and how much you should play it.

Other good news is that I, along with some friends, will be attending NDK, an anime convention in Denver, Colorado. If you're there give me a shout! Hopefully I will get some good pictures while I am there and hopefully will have tons to write about.

Thanks for reading again!
